Chuma Sopotela is a visionary South African artist and cultural worker who weaves together theatre, dance, music, and performance art to craft experiences that inspire, heal, and mobilize. Her creative practice is guided by a profound commitment to social justice, particularly in the pursuit of gender equality, and informed by her lifelong activism, which began with her work as an HIV/AIDS activist in high school with the Treatment Action Campaign. Chuma's artistic philosophy is rooted in the belief that art can change the world.
